The Affiliate hopes this finds you and yours safe and healthy in this trying time. We are all in uncharted waters for the time being, but we are all in this together. The State of Maryland is under a Stay-at-Home directive until at least April 30, 2020 and Virginia is under the same through June 10, 2020. Tryouts for the upcoming season are on hold until further notice. Most of us are working from home, sequestered with family, maybe home-schooling and trying to stay as entertained as we can.
PVAHA has been notified that all Coaching Modules for 2020–2021 are now open on the USA Hockey website. Also, USA Hockey registration for the 2020–2021 season is now open. Please take the time now, while we are in a holding pattern, to get your required coaching age-appropriate modules completed. Renew your registration now — if you do it now it’s good for 15 months as opposed to 12 months.
Background screening is now being completed by USA Hockey and is a part of your online registration. If you completed a background screen for the 2018–2019 season you will not need a background screen for the 2020–2021 season. In the event you need to renew your background screen you will be taken to a page where you can initiate that option. Please jump on this now — do not wait until the season starts to complete this. The sooner you get it done, the sooner you get your results. There will be no more excuses as to why you didn’t get it completed and now have to wait 5 days to be added to a roster, or denied and the team is left without a coach to start their season.
Also, please take this time to complete your SafeSport requirement. SafeSport is now an annual refresher and has to be completed before you can be added to a USA Hockey 1-T Roster.
Coaching seminars are on hold until USA Hockey gives the go-ahead and PVAHA will continue to maintain compliance with our local, state and federal rules and regulations. We expect a hectic time to get all coaching requirements completed before you will be allowed to be in contact with players for tryouts, etc.
Please complete what you can now as there will be no temporary cards issued for any reason for the upcoming season.
